Mixed Breed Dogs

The beauty of mixed breed dogs

Dogs are often regarded as humans’ best friend. And with good reason! However, many people don’t even consider finding such a companion in mixed breeds and often overlook their beauty. Instead, they search for purebred dogs with specific traits, physical attributes, and personalities.

Mixed breed dogs, also known as mutts, have unique and individual traits that make them just as special, if not more so, than purebred dogs. In fact, there are many reasons why mixed breed dogs make for far better companions.

  1. Healthier
Mixed breeds tend to be healthier than purebreds. The latter often suffer from genetic disorders and health problems that are passed down from one generation to another due to inbreeding. However, mixed breed dogs are less likely to have inherited genetic health issues since they have a more diverse genetic background. This means that mutts are less likely to develop health problems such as hip dysplasia, cataracts, and hypothyroidism.
  2. Easy to train
Mixed breeds tend to be less stubborn and more adaptable. This means that they can be trained more easily and quickly, which is an advantage for those who lead busy lives and don’t have a lot of time to spend on training their pets.
  3. Unique appearance
Mixed breeds are also unique in their appearance. They come in all shapes, sizes, and colours, and each dog is truly one-of-a-kind. Purebred dogs, on the other hand, have a specific physical appearance that is often associated with their breed. Having a more diverse genetic makeup means that mutts can have a combination of physical traits from different breeds. This makes them stand out from the crowd and adds to their individuality.

You don’t have to look far and wide to find a mixed breed dog to bring home. A nearby animal shelter would be the perfect place to find one. By adopting from animal shelters, you not only save a life but share your home with someone who has known abandonment and/or loneliness and would give anything to have a family.
